Behavioural Interviews | Sample Q & A | Intro to Interviewing

Good interviews do not just happen. They require thorough preparation on your part. The preparation involves three steps:

1. Research about the company
2. Stories to support qualifications
3. Question practice

First, using the Internet where possible, you need to do your research about the company and learn as much about their business, challenges and issues as you can. This will enable you to present your experience and qualifications in a way that addresses their needs.

Then you need to identify a couple of examples that best demonstrate your qualifications for each requirement of the position you are interviewing for. You must be able to tell the interviewer a story (briefly) that helps them understand and illustrates what you are saying. Use the PAR formula in telling your story.

P - What was the problem, challenge or opportunity you were facing

A - What specific actions you took to deal with the situation

R - What were the results of your actions

You may also consider practicing answering some general questions that may come up in interviews.
